Estero Florida becomes The Village of Estero

Voters decide, The Village of Estero wins overwhelming approval at the polls.
It has been fifteen years since voters have voted and approved a new city to be created in Lee county. Before this, it was Bonita Springs in 1999.
The effort was embraced and supported by State Representative Ray Rodgrigues, R-Estero, who sponsored the bill. The whole process took 18 months start to finish. The victory came with a wide margin.
A good deal of credit goes to The Estero Council of Community Leaders – ECCL – led by president Nick Batos.
What’s next? On March 3, 2015 an election will be held to fill seven council seats representing the various districts within The Village of Estero newly created.
