Florida Surpasses New York in Population
Florida climbs to number two in U.S. population rank.
The Florida population growth climbed and was reported by the U.S. Census bureau to 19.9 million just ahead of New York state at 19.7 million, as of July 1, 2014.
People are flocking to Florida from all over. An AP analysis this year showed that ex-New Yorkers represent about 1 in 10 Floridians. About 25% of migrants to Florida are from outside the U.S.
From another source, the top states with people moving to Florida are: NY, NJ, IL, PA, TX, IN, MD, MA, OH, MI, CT, CA, and GA.
The most populous states in the U.S. are California at #1 with 38.8 residents and #2 Texas with 27 million. It’s interesting to note that both CA and TX are in the top states with residents relocating.
